National Honor Society: Greek style!

There is a way for homeschooled students to join the National Honor Society. It's called Eta Sigma Alpha National Home School Honor Society. The Greek letters look like this:
HΣA
The Charlotte chapter was established in 2004 and they meet monthly near the campus of UNCC.
Students are challenged by other academically gifted high school students, hear relevant speakers, perform community service projects, and encourage one another in their studies. Test scores and an application process determine eligibility to join. The next information meeting with instructions on how to apply is on August 22, 2014 at University Hills Baptist Church. You can visit their website for more information: http://zetaepsilon.co.nr

Incidentally, sigma means "sum" and so you can use it on Microsoft Excel to add a column or row of data. I still remember learning the Greek alphabet when I joined a sorority and I thought it was fun, so even my kids have learned it in our homeschool. There are a lot of other uses in math and science. Delta (Greek letter D which looks like a triangle) actually means change. So if you are taking notes in science and want to note the change in temperature, you can just draw a small triangle to save time.

How many other Greek letters do you use in your daily life? Hint: it's more than you think!
