I read some insightful comments from another Challenge A director recently on the goals for this first year of the dialectic stage of a classical education. Here is some of what she shared:
*Ability to see our wondrous God in all of our studies.
*Ability to think critically. We're not trying to produce mini-mathematicians or Latin scholars per se; we're using the disciplines of mathematics and Latin to learn how to think critically.
*Ability to read widely and write accurately and persuasively (using the Lost Tools of Writing curriculum).
*Ability to practice obedience to master assigned memory work with a GOOD attitude (Geography, Latin, Catechism).
*Ability to work independently and prioritize schedules.
